Follow-Up: Dork Anthem

Well, color us lucky! After our post on Dave and Brian’s Dork Anthem video, Brian himself took the occasion to comment:

This song is not meant to mock geeks/dorks/nerds so much as it is meant to empower them. Be proud of who you are as a person. Check out this recent clip from a tv interview regarding this song.

When emailed for further comment, Dave had this to say:

I touched upon this in the [TV] interview, but I was picked on quite a bit from 6-11th grade, because I got good grades, had huge glasses, was smaller then everyone else, and definitely not a hit with the ladies.  I was called a nerd, geek, and dork.  It sucked to be called all of them.  As you get older, you look back on all that stuff and see how stupid it all was.  Be cool with who you are and don’t let what other people say bother you.  Thanks for all of your support!

So, we stand answered, gentle reader. It would seem that Dave and Brian do indeed have the nerd chops to walk the walk. They’ve also got the comedy chops, but that should’ve been obvious from watching the video.
