The Walking Dead Remains Monster Hit
Sunday night saw the return of The Walking Dead, and Monday morning saw AMC gloating over its success. According to AMC’s press release, The Walking Dead‘s mid-season premiere was seen by 12.3 million viewers, and 7.7 million of those were in the 18-49 demo. This is a 6% increase from the show’s previous high, and follows a lot of bad publicity for the series after showrunner Glen Mazzara was removed. If you were to combine the viewers from the premiere with the viewers from the encore airings the total jumps up even higher — to 16.6 million total.
At this point, The Walking Dead is such a behemoth that it isn’t just beating some network shows, it is beating almost all of them. The show is such a success that it is even causing The Talking Dead to rake in over 4 million viewers, more than a good number of scripted shows on the networks.
