iOS Boardgame App Sale

Playdek has announced that this weekend (January 18 through 20, 2013) all of its iOS games (and in-app upgrades) will be on sale for ninety-nine cents. So if you’ve been angling for some Can’t Stop or Summoner Wars, or if you want to upgrade the Ascension app you got for free a few weeks back, this weekend is the time to do it.
Most board or card games “ported” to iOS are derived from classic games but the Summoner Wars is really a young one. It seems that it’s popularity among card games players pushed it up to the digital version very quickly and hopefully there will be later add-ons.
I wonder if the digital version will have a greater number of fans vs the original one.
Actually, a lot of newer games are getting iOS versions. Small World (with a second version on Kickstarter), Nightfall, and the like out now. And while not “new” relatively new classics like Ra, Samurai, Medici, and Tigris & Euphrates are all available.
