New Pokémon Game Coming to 3DS This Fall

The new starting Pokemon from left to right: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

That’s right, the beloved Pocket Monster series is finally moving beyond the classic DS in its next installments, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, scheduled to release in October worldwide. It seems they are now fully departing from using only colors as titles, but this is hardly the biggest news that came with the announcement via Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct.

That kid is wearing effing rollerblades!

This announcement trailer shows not only the three new starters and what are probably two new legendaries, but also some in game footage including some fresh faces, new areas, a different mode of transportation, and the game’s new look. While now in 3D, it seems to retain some of its pixelated look to the environments and its limited four-way movement. So far, I like what I see. Even the new Pokemon all look pretty cool, so far. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, and maybe we won’t even end up with something like Luvdisc this time around.
