Board Game News Roundup: Devastating Battles and Warring Mages
- If you’ve read my recent review on BattleCON: War of Indines and thought it looked amazing to you, I have good news. BattleCON: Devastation of Indines has just landed on Kickstarter and it’s quite the sight to see. Much like BattleCON: War of Indines, Devastation features 18 new characters to battle with, but it seems to contain so much more. It’s got boss battles, new arenas, a solo/ co-op mode, new mascot characters, a better board, finishers, and more. There’s also a long awaited mini-expansion called BattleCON: Strikers that allows you to channel a different character in the middle of your fight. Check it out!
- A relative newcomer on the block, Mage Wars by Arcane Wonders is already making waves with many expansions for the game already on the calendar for release. I’ve gotten one play of this game in, and I’m already loving it. You basically control a mage in an arena with the sole goal of eliminating the enemy mage. You’re literally armed with a book of spells that you can go through each turn to optimally select whatever will help you most in your current situation. It’s really well done, and I’ll be reviewing it in the future. For fans of the game already, I have good news! In the next few weeks, Arcane Wonders will be rolling out a few products for you. First off, there is a Core Spell Tome 2 which will have copies of some of the more epic spells in the game, like the legendary creatures or mage specific equipment. In January-ish, they will also be releasing two new mages: The Forcemaster, and the Warlord in an expansion which promises to add over 200 cards (most of these will be new).
- A long awaited Kickstarter campaign for the print and play favorite from last year, 12 Realms, has arrived. This looks like a fun coop adventure game featuring fairy tale-like characters and villains. Check out the rules, artwork, minis and more at their KS page.
