ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Adds Another Cast Member
Another week has gone by, which must mean we have another bit of casting news for the upcoming ABC project S.H.I.E.L.D. This week TVLine broke the news that the upcoming Marvel series has added actor Brett Dalton to its expanding cast that already includes Clark Gregg, Ming-Na, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker. Dalton will be playing SHIELD agent Grant, who is described in the press release as, “deadly, precise, and cool under fire-but not so great with the people skills.” Agent Grant was one of the roles outlined in the earlier report on casting breakdown that has held up reasonably well to the roles cast so far. The remaining role from that list is a female agent named Skye.
Dalton is a relative unknown at this point, with only a string of guest appearances to his name. It is looking like Whedon is again going to the well of unknowns he has been fairly lucky with in the past. I’m still hoping that several of these actors will be ones we’ll hold up alongside other Whedon favorites in years to come. Until then, however, we’’ll need to see some more casting and hopefully a pilot in the not-too-distant future.
