Former Fringe Favorite Added to Arrow Cast

TVLine is reporting that former Fringe actor and fan favorite Seth Gabel (Lincoln Lee) has been cast as one of the major villains in this season of Arrow. Gabel will play a scary and nightmarish villain based on the DC Comics character Vertigo. In the comics, Vertigo is a Vlatavan Count, but Arrow will be grounding the character and darkening his tone, as it has with Green Arrow himself and the rest of the characters the show has been introducing.
Although the character will not be known as Vertigo, he will be introduced in an episode where a new drug, called Vertigo, becomes the new substance of choice in Starling City. Not much more is known about the appearance, aside from the fact that his introductory episode will air next year.
I was a fan of Gabel’s characters on Fringe and really look forward to his addition to Arrow. I think that one of the things that will help raise the series to the next level is a strong set of villains to oppose Oliver for the long haul. One and done episode of the week villains are fine, but someone he can bounce off of throughout a number of episodes will work in the show’s favor. Hopefully Gabel in the not-Vertigo role will act as this type of antagonist.
