Episode 147: Science, politics, and Nerd 101

Play

In this episode, Andrew is joined by Patrick and Ashley to discuss bees who love M&Ms, state politics in Maine (and how they relate to World of Warcraft), and then they give you a (brief) primer on the various nerd personalities and terms we reference here on the show. If you’re already a nerd, consider it your chance to correct us on the real truth about Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, Joss Whedon, and more.

So, uhh…I work at Target. The 4 am shift…in the back. Just thought you should know.

It’s like my dad always said, “When you get a new contributor, insult the living hell out of them first chance you get”.

To be fair, I didn’t say everyone who does that shift is as stanky as Ashley, just that she shouldn’t really be around humans any more than necessary.

I do, however, apologize for putting forward an employment program that would result in more unshowered people being around you while you’re trying to work. That was irresponsible, and if elected, I promise to do more than my opponent to rectify the shower situation. Thank you, and God bless America.

(Hopefully that’s enough to mitigate ShowerGate, but I’ll sing you a conciliatory song on the next episode to make up for it.)

At first I was merely reveling in the coincidence at hand, but the thought of you singing on the podcast provides too much enjoyment to be dismissed. Until then, I choose to be mortified at your suggestion to have Ashley join in the Target festivities. Good day to you, sir!
