Dracula Showrunner Announcement

Several months ago I reported news of a Dracula project receiving a 10 episode order at NBC. Now Dracula has a showrunner. Deadline recently announced that Carnivale creator Daniel Knauf will be running the project for the network. In the seven years since Carnivale’s cancellation, Knauf has been working around the industry in low-profile writing gigs for shows like Supernatural and Spartacus, as well as in comics on titles like Marvel’s Iron Man. This announcement will mark his return to the higher profile job of helming a series, this time at a major broadcast network.

Dracula, the series, was created by Cole Haddon and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula, who arrives in Victorian England posing as an American. There he brings his plot for revenge on those who ruined his life centuries earlier.

Any Carnival fans with thoughts on what Knauf might bring to this series as the central creative figure? I have to admit that it is one of the few HBO series that I have little knowledge of.
