For a younger child like your son, I would say a website like pogo.com is a wonderful site. There are some classic board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, or Risk available, plus the ability to register a free account allowing him to play with any Facebook friends (if he has one). Registration isn’t necessary though, so he can still play without an account. My personal favorite flash game is called Bubble Spinner 2 which can be found on ultimatearcade.com (http://www.ultimatearcade.com/game/bubble-spinner-2). Other than that, there are plenty of other sites like addictinggames.com or flash-game.net that have sections dedicated to kids games, but you should be wary those because there are some inappropriate titles on those sites that he may accidentally stumble across.
Giant Fire Breathing Robot is your source for geeks, games, and gamma rays. What does that mean?
