Another JJ Abrams Pilot Find a Home
According to a recent story from Deadline, JJ Abrams is producing another pilot that has just received a pilot production commitment. This time around he is teaming with Oscar nominee Alfonso Cuaron for an as-of-yet untitled project. NBC’s commitment will see a pilot produced, which skips over a few of the normal stages of production but does not necessarily mean it will move past the pilot stage.
The pilot will be directed by Cuaron with Mark Friedman helping him write it. According to the press release, the show will revolve around, “a girl in possession of a great gift/powers—which will come into their own in seven years—and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down.” It sounds like an interesting premise and Cuaron’s name alone makes it more interesting. Until more is known it will be difficult to judge the project too closely.
Cuaron was Oscar nominated for writing Y Tu Mama Tambien and Children of Men. He was also the director of my favorite film in the Harry Potter franchise, The Prisoner of Azkaban.
