Hannibal Casts Female Lead

TVLine is announcing more excellent casting news for the upcoming NBC mid-season series Hannibal. The Bryan Fuller run show will be borrowing an actress from previous Fuller series Wonderfalls, as Caroline Dhavernas joins Hannibal as a series regular.
Dhavernas will be playing Dr. Alana “Al” Bloom, described as: “a psychiatric protégé of Hannibal’s who teaches psychology at Georgetown University and is consulting with the FBI on criminal profiling.” The character will be responsible for introducing Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal to Laurence Fishburne‘s Jack Crawford, who is her mentor at the FBI.
Now that the main cast seems to be pretty well in place, I must say it makes me much more enthused for the series. What do you think of the casting? Does it make you more or less interested in checking in on the series?
