Board Game News Roundup: The Dark Ages of Dominion are upon us

  • Donald X. Vaccarino, the legendary creator of Dominion, has started to preview new cards from the very soon to be released Dominion: Dark Ages.

The word of the day is : Trash (Image courtesy of BGG)

Each day, Donald X. is previewing three new cards on BGG (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). What we know so far is that the theme of the set has been summed up as either interacting with the trash pile or the more loosely defined “Cards that become other things.” There’s also the interesting “Looter” cards, which give each player Ruins cards. There will be 5 different Ruins cards and they’re all basically terrible cards. Not as bad as curses, but they won’t help you a heck of lot.

Personally, I love the previews that have emerged; the set is starting to look like the gloomy set. Which is good to see! It can’t all be happy Cornucopias and Prosperity all the time.

The set will be released sometime around GenCon next week, and I for one am absolutely stoked about the game.

  • AEG’s Thunderstone Advance : Caverns of Bane is on sale! I’ll be honest, I saw it in my FLGS over a week ago but I think they totally broke street date on it. However, with this news, the frightening new expansion should be in your FLGS soon!
  • In more tragic news, Greater than Games announced (via Kickstarter) that the Sentinels of the Multiverse shipment was delayed by about 1 month due to typhoons. While sad, I’m hoping that >Games (that’s street slang for Greater than Games, yo) decides to make a Typhoon villain to properly villainize the typhoon. In fact, many of the Kickstarter backers are also voicing similar thoughts.
As a side note, >Games is bringing a limited number of copies to GenCon for those who are able to pick it up there. If you’re a KS backer, please get in touch with them to arrange pickup.
