Dan Harmon Project Update

Remember last week when I reported that Dan Harmon was working on a deal with Fox to create and run a sitcom for the network? Well, now TVLine has broken news that Harmon has signed a script deal with CBS. This script deal is for, you guessed it, a multi-camera sitcom. Multi-camera sitcoms are the staple comedies over at CBS, where they achieve huge ratings airing shows like Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly. Harmon has stated several times that, although he loves and is proud of Community, he would like to attempt something more populist.

It is unclear at this point how this news relates to the previously reported Fox negotiations. Although it is possible that the story was originally misreported, I find it more plausible that either CBS jumped on the same pitch that was being shopped at Fox or that this CBS deal is for a separate comedy that Harmon is developing in addition to the Fox series.

More information as it becomes available.
