AMC Casts Another Walking Dead Fan Favorite
Those fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead who watched the recent season two finale were introduced to a new character during the last act of the episode. As Andrea lay on the forest floor ready to die at the hands of the Walker that was attacking her, she was saved by a cloaked figure wielding a katana with two chained and armless Walkers in tow. Readers of the Image comic will know this character to be fan-favorite Michonne, who will become a part of the ensemble next season. Although the character’s face was hidden in shadow during the finale, AMC has recently cast an actress to play the character for the third season.
According to the casting scoop broken by Deadline, actress Danai Gurira has been cast in the role. Although her face may not be familiar to most, some will recognize her from her role on HBO’s Treme. I’m encouraged by the work she did on Treme and, although the role of Michonne will be much larger and more central to the plot than anything the actress has done to date, I have faith in her ability to portray the character.
With the casting of Michonne and the Governor now completed, as well as the reveal of the prison during the final shot of the finale episode, how much faith does everyone have in the show going into season three? Sound off in the comments.

This is going to be the best season ever! I can’t wait!
