Beauty and the Beast

In the entertainment business things seem to come in twos. Think Armageddon & Deep Impact, No Strings Attached & Friends with Benefits, or even the upcoming Mirror, Mirror & Snow White and The Huntsman. Now, in the realm of television, we have two Beauty and the Beast pilots. Earlier this year the CW announced that they are moving forward with a remake of the 1980s that starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. Now Deadline is announcing that ABC is stepping forward with a pilot order for a Beauty and the Beast show of their own.

The drama is being vaguely described as a period/fantastical reimagining of the fairy tale. The pilot is being written by Jonathan E. Steinberg (co-creator of Jericho) who will also serve as an executive producer if the show is picked up.

While there has been no decision past a pilot order, there is already speculation that ABC is eyeing its Sunday at 9PM timeslot for the series so that it would be able to pair it with its freshman fairy tale drama Once Upon A Time.

How many fairy tale shows are too many? Will you be setting aside a two hour family TV night Sundays should this get picked up and aired with Once Upon A Time? Sound off in the comments!
