MegaCon 2012 (Over 950 Convention Photos)

Over the course of February 17th to the 19th, MegaCon 2012, the southeast’s largest convention aimed at fans of comics, anime, gaming, and pop culture, brought thousands of attendees to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event featured major guest appearances by celebrities such as Stan Lee, Tom Felton, Bruce Boxleitner, and Robert Picardo, plus a wide variety of panels and booths for attendees to visit.
I’ve been dying to take some more convention photos ever since my visit to the Amazing Arizona Comic Con last month, so I made the long trek from Seattle to Orlando. After the con ended, I definitely felt that it was worth the journey and will gladly attempt it again in 2013. I hate to say it, but based on what I saw here and at Dragon*Con several months ago, the east coast has the west beat when it comes to convention costuming.
Here are a few highlights from the 956 pictures I captured with my camera while exploring the convention center:

Dhalsim yoga techniques put the crowd into a trance.

The Scarlet Witch has returned and, in my opinion, looks better than ever.

Christmas may be over, but that didn’t stop Buddy the Elf from sharing the holiday spirit.

I was glad to see some uncommon Disney cosplays at the Sunday gathering, such as Princess Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron, Gaston, and Will Turner.

Lucy from Elfen Lied has plenty of limbs for meeting and greeting her fans.

Skeletor, or should I say Skeletora, will destroy She-Man and the Mistresses of the Universe.

The long-lost twin brother of Chris Hemsworth was found alive and well at MegaCon.

Witness a horror movie cliche happening before your very eyes.

Nicki Minaj and the Lonely Island do the Creep.

Everybody’s working for the weekend! Chippendales’ loss is MegaCon’s gain.

Desperate for additional readers, DC has once again revamped the New 52′s Aquaman.

Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi take some time off in Florida during the creation of Borderlands 2.

The Dovahkiin was suddenly ambushed by a fierce dragon in the exhibit hall.

Killer Croc was one of several insanely impressive performers representing Batman’s rogues gallery at the Arkham Nights afterparty.

I wouldn’t have been shocked if Mad-Eye Moody had walked off the set at Universal Studios.

Forget Shazam! Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr. will only take orders from Captain Marvel.

Remember, kids… he gave blood for YOU!

The Heckler does his thing, much to Grendel Hunter Rose’s chagrin.

While lacking vision, Daredevil was gifted in other areas, such as enhanced hearing and smell.

When he’s not doing the voice of Commander Shepard in Mass Effect, Mark Meer can be found lurking in Bizarro World.
