Those fans of The Munsters who were looking forward to NBC’s new Bryan Fuller/Bryan Singer pilot based on the series need to look to the family’s street address from now on.

TVLine is reporting that the series has undergone a name change from The Munsters to the new Mockingbird Lane. Fans of the original series will remember that the family lived on 1313 Mockingbird Lane. The title change seems to signal another step away from the 1960s original which seems to beg the question; why re-launch the series to begin with?

The series is still in the casting stage which is said to be causing some trouble. According to a separate story from TVLine’s sister site Deadline, production on the pilot is being pushed to June so that there is plenty of time to find the right people for the job. With the step away from the original title and some other rumors that the characters will look normal and not “monstrous” like the original incarnations it seems that this might be more of a teen/family drama than anything approaching genre goodness.

Are any of you as dubious about this show as I am given all the information leaked so far? Sound off in the comments.
