NBC Committing Itself to Dracula
The Vampire craze continues as Deadline broke news that NBC inked a script-to-series commitment for Dracula. The show is being developed by NBC Universal for both its domestic and international markets. NBC’s take on the character comes from the mind of producer Tony Krantz, and although it will be set in the 1890s it is being described as “young, sexy and supernatural.” It’s a bit of a cross between Dangerous Liaisons and The Tudors. Dracula is being produced by Krantz and Colin Callender with Cole Haddon writing the pilot script.
Dracula’s script-to-series commitment from NBC is similar to the one I reported on for Bryan Fuller‘s Hannibal project. The network will receive the script and have the choice to pass on it or order it immediately to series, skipping the pilot stage.
