Amazing Arizona Comic Con 2012: Over 150 Photos

From January 6th through the 8th, the Amazing Arizona Comic Con brought the exciting world of comic book pop culture to the city of Mesa. Created by the good folks over at Jay Company Comics, this gathering ended up being one of the first comic book events of the 2012 convention season. Attendees could shop at a variety of vendors specializing in comics and toys, as well as meet a selection of special artists and creators like the iconic Image co-founder Rob Liefeld. In addition, Robert Kirkman and Chandler Riggs were in attendance to meet and greet fans of the popular Walking Dead franchise.
My favorite part of my convention travels is always the costuming, and the Amazing Arizona Comic Con did not disappoint. Several of Arizona’s charitable cosplay groups, such as the 501st Legion and Justice League Arizona, were present. Notable for generously donating their time by visiting hospitalized children, the group members gladly posed with fans of all ages. A costume contest was also held on Sunday, offering cash prizes to contestants brave and bold enough to show their dedication to the cosplay craft.
I had a fun time while roaming through the convention center on Saturday and Sunday, camera at the ready. Here are several notable photographs from my two-day trip to the Amazing Arizona Comic Con:

The line to meet Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman was one of the busiest at the show.

Barbara and Jim do some daughter/father bonding.

Tokana’s first attempt at creating a costume won top honors in the costume contest. This was also her first convention.

Quicksilver slows down long enough for me to get a photo.

I guess I was fated to take this photo.

Several zombies shambled around the con, with the best one winning a Walking Dead prize pack.
