The 2012 Olympics in London may be coinciding with another, far more nerdy sporting event—a Quidditch Exhibition Tournament. Mugglenet reports that Quidditch officials are trying to gain a wider audience by planning the tournament while the crowds of fans will conveniently be in town for the Olympics.

Yes, that’s right, muggles are playing Quidditch for reals. The sport was adapted for actual play by Middlebury College in 2005. These guys aren’t screwing around, either. The International Quidditch Association (“The Only Fantasy Sport That Will Make You Break A Sweat”) boasts hundreds of official teams, and the sheer enthusiasm of the players will make you grin. There are many teams in the U.S., with some of the better and more well-known teams coming from highly selective, prestigious liberal arts colleges- Harvard, Berkeley, Charleston, and Vassar. My fellow geeks, we have found our sport.

Harvard has the best uniforms and brooms by far, complete with wizard-like cloaks. Here’s another hilarious video of Harvard’s Quidditch team.
