More Big News for NBC’s Grimm
The good news keeps coming in for NBC’s Grimm. Deadline has reported that NBC has given the freshman drama a full-season pickup with a back nine order. This news comes on the heels of the recent order of two additional scripts that came earlier in the month. Additionally, NBC will be taking a big step next month by trying out the show in a new timeslot. Grimm will be airing an episode on Thursday, December 8th at 10 p.m. The show will air again the very next day in its normal timeslot and is scheduled to continue airing Fridays. This Thursday airing, though, can be seen as a test run for a future move. The network has been struggling in the ratings for several years and Grimm’s season average 2.3/7 share among 18-49 year olds and 6.9 million total viewers is seen as a beam of light on Fridays for the network. The Friday timeslot is normally seen as a burn-off zone for struggling shows (see Fringe, Chuck) mostly because most casual TV watchers do not watch television Friday nights. NBC seems to be hoping that moving to Thursdays will grow Grimm’s numbers to a place where it can be seen as an actual hit, not just one by NBC’s low standards.
