On October 21st, Nintendo had a special celebration in order to commemorate an epic milestone in the history of the Legend of Zelda franchise. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the series, a symphony performed pieces from the classic video game soundtracks at a concert held in Los Angeles, CA.
Nintendo has released some images from the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert over at BusinessWire, showing the orchestra at work and some of the other festivities going on as a part of the celebration. Legend of Zelda merchandise that appears to be exclusive to the symphony were available for purchase, such as collectible posters. It appears as though diehard Zelda fanatics are already dying to get these items based on eBay listings. Key figures to the creation of the series, such as producer Eiji Aonuma and composer Koji Kondo, appeared on stage to greet the masses.
You know I love my geek culture events, and sadly, this was one that I missed. I hope Nintendo decides to hold a similar celebration before the 50th anniversary of the series, as I’m sure many of us would love to attend a concert like this without having to wait another 25 years.
Oh jeez, I don’t want to even THINK about Zelda’s 50th anniversary. 25 makes me feel old enough as it is…
OK, Right?!? And, this is hecka cool.
