300+ Photos from PAX Prime 2011

PAX Prime, Penny Arcade’s celebration of all things related to gaming culture, made its annual appearance in the city of Seattle last weekend, August 26-28. Gamers from all over the world made the journey to Washington state in order to attend the weekend-long event. Whether it was trying out demos of new video or tabletop games, meeting and partying with like-minded people, shopping or collecting items from the exhibit hall, or listening to panels, PAX Prime had something for everyone.

For me, it was walking around and shooting photos of as many neat things as I could find. I always feel obligated to try and take as many pictures as I can in order to give the world a glimpse of what they’re missing each year at PAX Prime. While their presence wasn’t as plentiful in comparison to a typical anime or comic book convention, there were also dozens of great cosplayers roaming around the convention center waiting to get photographed. Check out Giant Fire Breathing Robot’s Flickr collection for a look at a little over 300 photos taken throughout PAX Prime weekend.

If you’re one of the regular readers of my convention photo coverage, you’ve probably noticed a difference in my usual routine. After some careful thought, I hope to use Flickr slideshows for displaying my image collections in order to provide a more enhanced viewing experience with larger, better quality photos, speedier load times, and faster updates after an event. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on these changes in the comments.

Great pics! The slideshow thing is something I haven’t seen before. It’s definitely easier, as you can just sit back and watch, but the viewer has less control. I don’t know if I have a preference, but it’s cool to see something different.

This way definitely seems like a cleaner presentation; there’s no massive scroll bar to use :) The only thing I miss from the old style is the notes on each picture, although I understand why you don’t want to do that! Probably doubles the time it takes you to upload the pics. Great coverage!
