Mr. Rogers Spinoff to Debut In 2012

It’s such a wonderful day in the neighborhood, especially now that the vacancy left by Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood is getting filled. PBS recently announced during the Television Critics Association tour stop that the Fred Rogers Co. is producing a spinoff to Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood called Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. This may not seem as big news in relation to all the Comic-Con or Gen Con news, but many geeks grew up with Mr. Rogers, and it gives me such a good feeling knowing that there will be more shows like this for future geeks to watch in their formative years.

Mr. Rogers Neighborhood aired on PBS from 1968 to 2001, and continued to be rerun on many stations up until a few years ago. Daniel the Striped Tiger was a popular puppet on the show, who lived in the Land of Make Believe. Daniel Tiger, the star of the new show, is the son of Daniel the Striped Tiger. The new show will be a cartoon set in the present day and is set to air in the fall of 2012.
