Anime Expo 2011: Sunday (100+ photos)

Sunday’s attendance seemed to drop when compared to the heights seen on Friday and Saturday. In addition to all the normal activities you’d find at a convention like Anime Expo, the official AX 2011 cosplay masquerade was scheduled to happen on that evening. Due to my incredible experience at WonderCon’s masquerade earlier in the year, I was extremely excited for the chance to see award-winning costumes getting a moment to shine on stage for the chance at winning thousands of dollars in prizes.
Other than that, I still spent the majority of my day hopping around from place to place with my trusty camera in tow. By nightfall, my photo count for Sunday was nearing 140 pictures. Hit the jump when you’re ready to head into the breach once more.

[Welcome StumbleUpon visitors! When you're done here, why not also check out David's pictures from Friday, Saturday, and Monday... - Ed.]

That white ranger picture you just took… that was me and I look awesome. ^_^
Nice pictures, and you got a few of people I know! I love the “Where’s Waldo” one, I’ve seen Waldo cosplayers but never in a picture like that… I wonder if it’s the guy I know. By the way, I am the Makoto from the masquerade, and my friend was Tsubaki. I’m not sure where Kisara came from, hehe n_n;;
Oops, just noticed that. I actually play BlazBlue, so should have known that one, too. “Kisara” must have came from lack of sleep…
Thanks for including me in your gallery (I am Ambassador Magma a.k.a. Maguma Taishi)! As I was walking around the convention center, my knee guards kept slipping down, as you can see in the photo. I had to constantly stop every few minutes and have my fiance pull them up for me. In August of 2011, the month following Anime Expo, I was invited to participate in the Nisei Week Grand Parade in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles by the owner of Anime Jungle. For that event I made sure to Velcro my knee guards in place…even though I was riding in a car during the parade. If I ever wear my Maguma Taishi costume again, those knees guards will stay where they belong! Wish I would have used the Velcro for Anime Expo. Oh well!
The costume in the photo captioned “I don’t know the name of this cybernetic being.” may be robot smoke from MK. Maybe.
Yes the armored guy with the red tear drop shape on his forehead is a character from an old 90s anime, Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken, and the characters name is Hyunkeru.
This was definitely worth the time it took to view. Great photos my friend and a great effort from all those who got dressed up.
