Ankh-Morpork Watch

A new crime series based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels and featuring the Ankh-Morpork City Watch?

Who do I have to bribe to make sure this happens?

According to the folks at Bleeding Cool, the two gentlemen who are currently working on the Good Omens miniseries (yep! That’s in the works too!) are being called in on this project. It would be a crime-of-the-week show featuring the members of AM’s Watch. Even if I didn’t know and love the Discworld series with every fiber of my being, I’d be intrigued by a new crime show with a humorous/satirical twist.

Apparently, there’s already been interest by various broadcasters around the world, which is good news for those of us here in the U.S. The three television miniseries that have been produced already have been well-received by longtime fans and new fans as well. So it looks like this new series might have many points in its favor already.

The biggest concern I’d have (and that I have with most live-action adaptations) would be with casting. I’m so very picky about casting of characters that I’ve only known through text and have my own mental images of. Still, for all that I’ve been hesitant about the casting on the other three Discworld miniseries I’ve found myself quite pleased with how well the actors fit the roles.

What do you think? Do you think they can pull off a weekly crime show based in the Discworld? I believe it’s completely possible, especially with the large amount of Pratchett fans throwing in their support, complete with lilac.
