Dead Island Rises From the Grave

For those of you who do not remember Dead Island, the game was revealed way back in 2007. It was going to be a zombie-filled survival horror game that would take place on a tropical island. Little was actually seen of it besides a few short video clips during Games Conference in Germany, and many assumed that the game had quietly been canceled after months went by without any new information. As you can see from the exclusive trailer IGN has posted, the rumors of Dead Island’s death were greatly exaggerated!
While no actual gameplay footage is seen in the trailer, Dead Island’s Facebook page provides a little more detail on how the game will work. The island will feature open world exploration for up to four players as they band together to try and survive the sudden zombie onslaught. Combat will be from a first-person perspective and focus on melee attacks, which is a bit of a change compared to similar games like Left 4 Dead. RPG elements like customizable weaponry are also included. While it’s several years shy of the original 2008 release date the developers (Techland) were aiming for, gamers will finally be able to purchase the game sometime in 2011 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
Nice. Me likey.
